About me

Wherever we turn our gaze, we encounter images: objects, faces, gestures, fragments of reality. We never see things as they are in themselves, but only what they reveal. This is why it is essential to understand what an image is and what function it fulfills.

Patrizia Belluigi’s work is born from this question. Her theological background and experience in iconography lead her to consider the image as a locus of meaning. In a world where images unfold relentlessly, urging action and consumption, the icon offers the opposite: it invites stillness, suspension, contemplation.

Her icons do not seek attention; they restore depth. They become a threshold between the visible and the invisible, a silent dialogue between the world we inhabit and the one we seek—an instant in which two levels of reality brush against each other.

Her art moves between interiority and tradition, between light and matter, entrusting the image with the task of opening a space for listening. The exhibition invites us to slow down, to let ourselves be seen by the image, and to discover—through sacred painting—a different way of seeing
