Holy Family

The icon of the Holy Family depicts Jesus, the Virgin Mary, and Saint Joseph united in love and obedience to God’s will. Mary is shown as the Mother of God, Joseph as the righteous and protective guardian, and the Child Jesus as the center of the family and source of divine life. The icon emphasizes humility, trust, and the sanctity of family life.

Historically, the image of the Holy Family developed especially in Christian art from the Middle Ages onward, inspired by the Gospel accounts of Jesus’ childhood and the hidden life of the family in Nazareth. In iconography, it serves as a model of faith, unity, and devotion for Christian families.
